Getting in and around - Transport
Sopot can be reached by:
Arrival to Sopot i spossible by exits from the motorway S6 as well as directly from centres of Gdynia and Gdańsk via route 468. During summer season traffic in downtown Sopot is quite dense. In the centre parking is metered. For coaches, two parkings have been mde available.
The Lech Walesa airport in Gdańsk is ca. 10km away from town centre. It offers flights to numerous cities around Europe. Yearly 4mln passangers board planes in the airport. How to get to Sopot from the airport?
Sopot is situated on the railway line connected to international network. Direct connections are available to most large cities of Poland and once a day to Berlin.
Train station is located in the town centre, about a kilometre from the beach.
Train platforms are aligned to North-South line. The northern exit is closer to town centre, however then it opens to both West (to Podjazd street) and East (to Chopina street). There are three ticket dispenser machines at the northern exit. The station hallis at the eastern side of the northern exit.
At the southern exit SKM tickets point is located.
The two platforms of the Sopot station have different purpose: platform 1 serves local trains (SKM) and platform 2 long-distance trains.
Lifts for the disabled and carrying large luggage may be found at both sides of the platforms.
Left-luggage cabinets are located in the station hall, next to the ticket desks.
The Sopot marina doesn't carry out regular passanger service.
It is open April through October for boats if free quay is available. It can accept about 100 vessels of maximum length up to 24 metres and draft to 4 metres. Prices start from 30 to 120 zloty per day for largest vessels. Additional amenties include a toilet and waste disposal. The closet ports with full infrastructure are located in Gdynia and Gdańsk.
From May till the end of September passenger service to Hel is offered by Żegluga Gdańska. Sopot can be reached on a ship of this owner also from Gdańsk within the months above:

How to get around Sopot?

SKM (Fast City Train) connects Sopot to stations in Gdynia and Gdańsk as well as further away towns. Trains stop on three stops in Sopot. SKM platform is just aside long-distance trains platform and two other stops are located in neighbourhoods Kamienny Potok and Wyścigi. SKM trains leave several times per hour so it is not common to wait more than a couple of minutes for next train. Journey to Gdańsk takes 21 minutes, and to Gdynia 15 minutes.
SM tickets can be purchased in ticket dispenser machines and at station desks. Tickets obtained in desk require stamping prior to the actual departure. The cheapest are tickets for one-way travel without leaving the train. Schedule of trains: skm.pkp.pl
